How to set up the remote? Codes for setting up the remote control

Many people asked this question, so I decided to write a post about this and help readers with this problem. This information is useful in working with remotes of brands such as: Samsung, LG, Sony, etc.

HOW TO PROGRAM A REMOTE CONTROL?

In order to program the remote control, it is very important to check whether it contains an automatic scanning system.

We will begin our explanation with this universal remote control model, because it is the most used at this time.

This method will allow us to perform the setup without having to search for a code for each TV. Perhaps the instructions that are provided with some remotes may not be clear, so it’s important to buy a universal remote control that has automatic scanning, like the one shown in the picture.

Often, the instructions for the remote control may not include the brand of your TV in the list, but this will not interfere with programming, since some codes correspond to TVs that are not

HOW TO CONFIGURE THE REMOTE CONTROL?

This small device is one of the most used at home, and for this reason, its duration is very short. However, its configuration is very simple.

Most often, we use these three buttons to configure our remote control (shown in the figure below):

The green SET button, TV1 button and the red power button. The yellow arrow shows us on LDE (LED), in this case it is a small red light.

As I mentioned earlier, this remote control has an automatic scanning system. There are other brands that also have it. When buying a remote control, pay attention to the packaging. There, approximately, should be written: "universal remote control with automatic scanning."

This is very important, because if the remote control is without automatic scanning, the setup process will be impossible.

This remote control is very versatile due to the ease of setup and six configurations that can be performed simultaneously, that is, it can be used for 6 devices at the same time.

All are performed using the same remote control programming procedure.

HOW TO PROGRAM A UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL WITHOUT CODES?

To find the correct code for the remote control, you must use the automatic scanning system. To do this, we need to perform the following procedure:

Press the green SET button and TV1 button at the same time, and a red light (indicated by a white arrow) will light up, which indicates that you are entering the program (as shown in the second image of this unit).

The instructions provided with this remote control provide some codes for well-known brands of TVs, modems, DVDs, home cinema systems and some other devices.

It is important to try to use this remote control with any other device that is not mentioned, it is possible that it is suitable for him.

NOTE: If you want to find out if the remote control is broken, in the next article I will leave you a way to test the remote control.

We already made the first programming step, which consisted of pressing the green button and TV1 (because in this case we are going to set up the TV ... but in the case of another device, we press the button corresponding to the setup button of another device, and if we have already set up the TV, we can configure another device after it).

Do not forget that for other devices the whole process is performed again, that is, the same encoding process is performed from the very beginning. It is worth noting that using this method, codes for the TV and any device can be executed automatically.

As soon as our indicator lights up, we press SET. When you click on the button, the indicator starts flashing, which means that it is looking for codes.

Then, press the red button (power) to turn off the TV ... (logically, this whole process should have been performed with the TV turned on and with the remote control pointing at it).

All this procedure should be performed slowly and in compliance with all stages.

After our TV has turned off, press the TV1 button to record the code. Then the indicator stops flashing and turns off, giving a signal that the remote control is configured.

If you can’t program your remote control the first time, try again.

CODES FOR UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL

Steps for programming a universal remote control with codes

In accordance with the list below, find the brand you need and specify the code of the device that you want to configure. For example, if you want SONY TV codes: 000, 001, 012, 013, etc. Then do the following:

Note: During the setup process, if you want to cancel the operation, press the green (SET) button again.

If no key is pressed within 10 seconds, the remote control will automatically cancel the programming.

  1. Press the green (SET) button and hold it down. Then press the button to set (TV1), (VCR1), etc.
  2. The LED will turn on instantly. Then release the two selected buttons.
  3. Enter the device numbers (for example, code 000 for the SONY TV).
  4. If the code entered on the remote control is correct, the LED indicator will be paid automatically. If this is not the case, the LED will blink twice and remain lit, as at the beginning. If this happens, return to step 3.
  5. Check if the buttons on the remote control work or not. If the keys do not work correctly or the code is incorrect, try other codes of the same brand (for example, code 001, 012, 013 ... for a SONY TV). Repeat steps 1 through 5 until you find the correct code and it works fine.
