Can you use your phone as a TV remote control?

You can navigate your Android TV from your phone or tablet using the Android TV Remote Control app. Note. To use the Android TV Remote Control app, you need an Android device running Android 4.3 or higher.

Customize your remote control app

1. Download the Android TV Remote Control app from the Play Store to your phone.
2. Connect your phone and Android TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
3. On your phone, open the Android TV Remote Control app Android TV Remote.
4. Tap the name of your Android TV.   If it doesn't appear, try the following troubleshooting steps.
5. The PIN code will appear on your TV screen.
6. Enter the PIN on the phone. Then tap Pair.

Android TV Remote Control app is an official Google product. You can use it to control any Android TV device that is on the same Wi-Fi network as your smartphone.

If your Android TV device uses a wired Ethernet connection (which is often recommended for smoother video playback), you can also connect using Bluetooth if your Android TV Box supports it.

The remote app offers both D-pad and touchpad controls. You can search with your voice by clicking on the microphone icon (again, if your Android TV Box supports voice search).
